Threats to dugongs vary: unintentional catching of fishing gear, legal (customary sanctions) and illegal hunting, boat activities, habitat damage due to conversion caused by human activities, threats to seagrass beds due to reclamation and coastal dredging, chemical pollution and environmental climate change
