Ogoh- ogoh festival on silent day

Various celebrations on the island of Bali with from one festival that is closely related to the beliefs of the Balinese people one of the most interesting that is often held in Bali every year as a destination to welcome the saka New Year, based on the Balinese tranditional calendar called Nyepi Day comes every year generally in March on the calendar that is recognized by the general public. Where this celebration is celebrated with fanfare starting from the preparation of young Balinese children. this preparation takes 2 to 3 months in advance to build an ogoh-ogoh. Is a giant doll made from the creativity of young people in the banjar organization in their environment with various forms of creatures / animals mythology, the role of puppet Mahabaratha or Ramayana, or things that are very funny to see that they are made from materials that are easy to find around them ranging from bamboo, waste paper, coconut fiber fibers that are assembled into- the same to produce beautiful work is often also found in the competition of ogoh-ogoh several cities in Bali. 

In this series of Nyepi Day Balinese people are full of enthusiasm to watch the ogoh-ogoh parade that is done the day before Nyepi Day is collected in the center of the crowd of villages, cities and on display with a mix of movements to form as if ogoh - ogoh dancing with a large size, and accompanied by the roar of the gambelan sound with excitement that becomes the center of the spectacle of the people around which ogoh – ogoh is interpreted as a symbol to get away from the community from the negative energy that can disturb the silence of the Nyepi celebration atmosphere the next day. After ogoh parade finished the next day at the start of the sunrise Nyepi Day took place by doing some patangan penyepian which is called Beratha penyepian which is called Chess Beratha Penyepian that is on the day of Nyepi there are four taboos that should not be done by the people of Bali include

- Not doing work activities

- Not doing activities outside the home

- Do not turn on the light or lamp

- Do not do a crowd party

Which must be obeyed by the people of Bali with the basic concept of Balinese beliefs called Tri Hitakarana or three things to maintain balance, one of human relationships with nature, also as a moment to gather in a family environment where on the day of Nyepi the Balinese people give the opportunity to nature to be free from the bustle of humans to provide natural space in a full day starting from sunrise to the next day at sunrise with this realizing a harmonious relationship so that individual generations can learn to
